Access Partnership joined Partner2Connect Coalition (P2C) with a pledge on satellite connectivity to achieve sustainability and resilience, especially in developing countries. Launched the UN’s specialized agency for ICT/telecommunications, the Partner2Connect Coalition (P2C) mobilises resources through partnerships to deliver meaningful connectivity to everyone around the world since its inception in late 2021.
Access Partnership has pledged to utilise its public policy expertise to advocate for agile regulation and policies that will allow further connectivity for people everywhere.
The commitment was delivered by Senior Policy Manager Ivan Suarez in a High-Level Session in P2C Digital Development Roundtable, held in conjunction with the World Telecommunication Development Conference in Kigali, Rwanda between 6-16 June 2022.
Suarez invited everyone to lift the barriers against meaningful connectivity: “As Access Partnership, we invite all policy makers, regulators and private sector to use our research as a starting point to lift the regulatory barriers that limit how we mitigate the climate crisis. Satellite connectivity can be used now, for disaster preparedness worldwide. One life lost is one too many.”
Besides improving emergency aid processes through the provision of satellite connectivity, enhancing their security in dangerous areas, and providing instant connections where other channels are damaged or congested, satellite technologies enable humanitarian workers and populations quickly to build resilient networks. This has a big impact, adding to the Coalition’s objective of bridging the globe’s population.
