Questions about the level of government intervention in digital had cropped up in multiple earlier podcasts, so we decided to talk to an ex-government minister who had been deeply involved in digital for many years.

Lord Ed Vaisey defended government intervention especially in rural connectivity, but also in helping to promote new technologies, while acknowledging that some interventions might be a step too far, and that cross-department interworking was deeply challenging. His reflections on his time in office were deeply illuminating.
