Building Secure Online Environments for Young Users

On 24 May, Access Partnership hosted a webinar on how to design immersive online platforms that balance the freedom to explore with protecting the safety and well-being of young people.

Moderated by Policy Manager Paula Rabacov, the event brought together four stakeholders from across industry and civil society to discuss child-centric regulatory approaches, the importance of age-appropriate content, and the role of parents and caregivers.

Joining Paula were:

  • Adam Ingle, Global Lead, Digital Policy Government & Public Affairs, The LEGO Group
  • Laura Higgins, Senior Director of Community Safety and Civility, Roblox
  • Paula Pando de Hill, Partnership & Communication Manager Child Safety Initiative, XRSI
  • Flynn Adams, Founder & CEO, INTELiQORE Inc.

The debate was built around a series of structured questions, with audience members leaving interactive comments for further discussion before a closing Q&A. Topics ranged from the potential challenges and benefits posed by the metaverse to how to strengthen existing policy frameworks to mitigate the growing risks of online harm.
