Webinar Recording | Is Asia a Tech Policy Leader or Follower?

The last thirty years have witnessed Asia’s growth from a major source of materials and manufacturing to its emergence as a global tech leader. Its new-found prominence in diverse tech, such as networking equipment and content platforms, as well as strength in devices, e-commerce, fintech, and growing capabilities in artificial intelligence, mean that Asia’s global imprint on tech stretches well beyond its borders.

Tech in Asia is not only viewed as a means to ensure economic growth, but also a vehicle to promote Asia’s approach to tech governance to other countries. The region’s countries straddle a diversity of policy approaches that lean in various directions on any number of issues between regulatory poles of the EU, US, and China. Many are pioneering their own paths, and Asia has actively led efforts to obtain buy-in from other jurisdictions on how to best regulate tech.

In this webinar, we discuss Asia’s growth as a global tech leader and the policy issues arising from new content, privacy, digital platform rules, competition and protectionism.
