Webinar Recording | The DSA: The Future of Content Regulation

13 January at 2pm GMT/3pm CET/19am EST

The Digital Services Act was a defining trend in 2020, as the European Commission kicked off its ambitious plans to reshape the online world. Political groups, national governments and industry lobbyists spent much of their time trying to shape the proposal, released on 15th December. The broad scope of the proposal will reconsider long-established intermediary liability protections used by a range of companies, from social media and online platforms to cloud infrastructure providers. Re-writing the liability rules could massively change the Internet ecosystem, with the EU eager to replicate the global impact of the GDPR.

Join us in conversation with MEP Alex Agius Saliba and industry representatives as we discuss the proposal and consider what it means for Internet governance and citizen’s rights, and how global tech companies should navigate this complex landscape.

Speakers:

  • Alex Agius Saliba, Member of the European Parliament
  • Giulia Pastorella, Head of EU Government Relations, Zoom Video Communications
  • Francesco Versace, Senior Advisor Platforms and Services, Group External Affairs, Vodafone
  • Simona Lipstaite, Senior Policy Manager, Access Partnership
  • Matthew Willis, Partner, Fourtold

Moderator: Samuel Stolton, Digital Editor, Euractiv
