Singapore’s Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has launched a government e-money wallet, GovWallet, which allows the country’s public sector to disburse monies directly to citizens. This function exists within the LifeSG app https://www.life.gov.sg, which when logged in with the Singapore digital identity SingPass https://www.singpass.gov.sg, allows all citizens to access all government services from within the app.
This development marks a strong and bold move by GovTech and the Singapore government, to strengthen the transparency of government disbursements, while at the same time ensuring accuracy in the distribution of subsidies and financial assistance to citizens.
