Five Questions with Gordon Tempest-Hay

Five Questions with Gordon Tempest-Hay

Last week, we welcomed our new CEO Gordon Tempest-Hay, a practised leader with over 20 years’ experience managing firms in the professional services sector. To mark the start of his tenure, we sat down to ask him five questions to learn more about his vision and the opportunities he sees for Access Partnership in the months and years ahead.

What drew you to Access Partnership?

Right now, technologies are advancing faster than the policies that govern them. Access Partnership sits right at that intersection, offering expertise that is not only relevant but urgently needed. It’s a brilliant, understated modest business working on the innovations that will define our lives in the years to come. Who wouldn’t be interested in being part of that?

You’ve built your career around helping international firms thrive. What do you think is the key to success in scaling in diverse, dynamic markets?

Each market is different. It is nearly always wrong to presume you can take one thing or approach created for one market and roll it out identically around the world. Market understanding, nuance and expertise matters.

What are your top priorities over the next 12 months?

I am all about the work and all about clients. So, my biggest priority is to ensure that the work we do for our clients is the best it can possibly be – insightful, actionable, and consistently valuable. That means focusing on quality, delivery, and impact across the board.

If we get that right, then we will have satisfied customers who want to do more with us. Everything after that is secondary.

Where do you see the biggest opportunities for the business?

There are almost too many to list. We have opportunities in geographies where we are not yet present. We have opportunities in bringing our expertise to new vertical sectors. We have opportunities to broaden our offer in the sectors where we are already strong by pushing further into management consulting. The challenge is not in trying to identify the opportunities but picking the winners.

What is the one thing you want people to know about Access Partnership?

I want people to know that the world’s experts in space, connectivity, data, AI, healthcare, technology, and life sciences reside at Access Partnership. There are more PhDs here per head than in any other organisation in which I have worked. We truly have expertise that others do not.

That expertise is combined with a purpose that means our people apply their knowledge both for the benefit of clients and society.

I think that makes us unique.
