Quality Issues and Programme Diversity

Quality Issues and Programme Diversity

From the early origins of television broadcasting two aspects have been closely related. One is a concern with the nature of the programmes, their content and message, with the social influence they have and the role broadcasting plays within the life and culture of the community. The other is with the political/economic/technological structure of the television industry and how that structure influences the provision, nature and content of programming. The political and social goals that government and other influential groups aim at achieving in content have implications for the nature and structure of the industry itself.
