28 August 2020: TRP Demonstration Seminar on Passenger Journey Analytics Tool

Date: 28 Aug 2020, 11:00 am -12:00 noon (HKT)

In this online meeting Stephane Duguet, Head of Research, Technology & Innovation at Thales Transport & Security HK, will introduce a big data analytics tool for passenger journeys, transforming data into mobility insights. Such insights on the passenger experience are the most important performance indicator for mass transit system operators. The starting point to optimize passenger experience is a better understanding of their journey.

The tool assesses the performance of the urban rail network by processing existing data from the network (entries and exits ticketing data, train schedule) and applying big data, data mining, machine learning and advanced visualization technologies to deliver passenger centric indicators such as train occupancy, platform crowding, waiting time and missed trains.

Dr. Yong-Hong Kuo, Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the HKU, will open the Q & A with a few remarks on big data and inter-modal integration.
