Panos Kanavos is a Senior Advisor in Health and Life Sciences where he deploys expertise in pharmaceutical policy, pricing, and health technology assessment to support clients across Europe, emerging markets, and global health institutions.


Panos brings expertise in pharmaceutical and medical technology policy, pricing, health technology assessment, and digital health. His work addresses critical issues including health care financing reform and population health management; and the broad parameters of pharmaceutical policy and value assessment. He specialises in formulating policy frameworks for generic medicines, advanced diagnostics, and digital health technologies.
He examines the clinical, economic, social and key criteria that inform national coverage decisions for new technologies, including medicines, medical devices and digital health tools; and contributes to policy developments, such as the drafting of the EU Regulation on HTA cooperation.
Panos is Professor in Practice in International Health Policy, in the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also Deputy Director at LSE Health, and Director of the Medical Technology Research Group (MTRG). Panos was previously Harkness Fellow in Health Care Policy in the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Medical School.
Panos has advised ministries of health and health insurance organisations in over 50 countries, as well as the European Commission, the European Parliament, the World Bank, the World Health Organization, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the American Association for Retired Persons.
