On Wednesday, March 3, the Times of India hosted its weekly edition of the Times Techies Webinar on the “Top 5 in-demand tech skills in India by 2025”. The event was streamed live on Facebook. Dr. Fraser Thompson, Co-Founder and Managing Director of AlphaBeta, was a panelist at this event together with Rahul Sharma, President – Public Sector at Amazon Web Services (AWS) India and South Asia. The topic stoked a rich conversation with the audience on how they could transition into cloud computing, data science, and cyber security roles in the near future.
This event followed the release of AlphaBeta and AWS’ recently released study on “Unlocking APAC’s Digital Potential: Changing Digital Skill Needs and Policy Approaches”. The research shed light on digital skill use by workforces in the region today, future digital skill needs, and the policy interventions required to enable this shift. In addition to India, the report covers five other countries – Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea. The study finds that, by 2025, the average worker in the region will need to gain 7 new digital skills to keep pace with technological change.
