Influencing multilateral organisations

The Opportunity

Access Partnership led a consortium of eight multinational technology companies to engage G77 governments and their representatives in New York, influencing UN General Assembly decisions on internet governance during the 10-year review of the World Summit on the Information Society.

The Solution

This strategic effort aimed to prevent a UN-led takeover of key regulatory functions, including the Domain Name System, and protect the internet’s role as a driver of global economic growth. Through coordinated diplomatic engagement and advocacy, we helped preserve the existing governance model and mitigated risks that could have undermined the internet’s economic value.

Access Partnership’s ability to mobilise coalitions and navigate complex diplomatic channels was critical in safeguarding the open, global digital ecosystem.

The Impact

  • Led a consortium of eight multinational technology companies
  • Preserved existing governance structure through targeted, strategic effort
