Building capacity to reward innovation in Latin America

The Opportunity

Healthcare ecosystems in low and middle-income countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have limited institutional and regulatory capacity to recognise and reward the value of innovation. Time to regulatory approvals, health technology assessments, and reimbursement tend to be lengthy and often unpredictable, creating access barriers.

The Solution

To address this, Access Partnership designed and delivered targeted training for payers and patient advocacy groups, focusing on affordability policies and innovative access mechanisms such as managed entry agreements. Through a mix of on-site and virtual sessions, we supported both internal and external stakeholders in strengthening their ability to assess and enable access to high-value treatments.

The Impact

  • Built capacity in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Peru, and Brazil to evaluate and adopt innovative health solutions
  • Streamlined market access to innovative treatments for cancer, rare diseases, and communicable conditions
  • Enabled local stakeholders to implement practical policy tools that recognise and reward medical innovation
