Access Alert | African Union and European Union Focus on Digital Development

The first African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Digital for Development (D4D) Hub Multi-stakeholder Forum was held last week, and themed “Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development in Africa”.

The AU-EU D4D Hub project supports African institutions to focus on inclusive digital transformation, promoting collaboration between African and European stakeholders. The Hub seeks to create an enabling environment for digitalisation opportunities, ultimately promoting economic growth and development.

During the forum, the EU highlighted that it wanted to partner with the AU and participate in harmonizing digital regulatory framework as well as sharing its experience around connectivity infrastructures. To increase commercial opportunities, the AU noted that collaboration is essential.

The AU-EU D4D initiative provides an exciting opportunity for collaboration and partnership between the different continents, where best practice can be shared and adopted.
