Last week, Erik Jacobs attended the two-day IAPP Global Privacy Summit 2023 in Washington, DC. The event convened experts to discuss the implications of privacy-related policy, regulation, and technological developments around the world.
Speakers at the conference included U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy Nathaniel C. Fick, who commented on the Biden Administration’s cyber priorities and the upcoming G7 summit in Japan, and leading EU officials, such as European Commission Deputy Head of Unit Data Protection Karolina Mojzesowicz.
Discussion points at the conference included approaches to the current US policy regime—and lack of federal privacy rules—as well as EU policy roadmaps, an explanation of the changing policy landscape in the Asia-Pacific, and keynote speeches on the impact of generative artificial intelligence on future society.
