Dr. Fraser Thompson, Founder and Managing Director of AlphaBeta, shared insights from AlphaBeta’s recent work on the digital skills challenge and opportunity facing Australia with the Australian Financial Review (AFR). Key insights include:
- Australia will need an extra 6.5 million digital workers in the next four years to keep up with technological change
- The average worker will need to gain seven new digital skills to keep pace
- Cyber security and cyber forensics, cloud architecture design and large-scale data modelling will become the top three in-demand skills by 2025
“The challenge is huge, but the pay-off would be tremendous in terms of stronger economic growth, higher incomes, and a more equitable and resilient economy,” said Dr. Thompson.
