On the back of the recent ban of TikTok app in India, Access Partnership’s Policy Analyst Mike Laughton spoke to Quartz on the challenges for internet platforms to filter content:

“…the ‘cure’ can be worse than the ‘disease.’ Platforms that try to filter or moderate pornographic content often find themselves filtering religious iconography, perpetuating gender biases, or undermining public sexual health campaigns by blocking access to educational resources.”
