AlphaBeta report cited in AWS’s announcement of new skills training program

In AWS’s announcement of its new national workforce development program Cloud Ready SG with AWS in collaboration with the Singapore government on 30 June 2021, AWS cited AlphaBeta’s findings of Singapore’s 1.2-million digital worker gap between today and 2025 in a recently released report.

Despite being having of the most digitally skilled workforces both regionally and globally, Singapore will need an additional 1.2 million digitally skilled workers by 2025 in order to keep up with the fast pace of technological advancements. These 1.2 million additional workers will include workers today who do not yet apply any digital skills at work, new workers who will enter the workforce by 2025, as well as individuals who are unemployed or involuntarily excluded from the workforce today, but who will need basic digital skills to access new jobs. The report further finds that cloud skills will be in high demand: among workers who are already digitally skilled today, half of those who do not apply cloud computing skills believe that these will become a requirement in their jobs by 2025.
