Thomas Olsen Aarheim holds an MA (Hons) in Philosophy & Politics and an MSc in Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh. His academic background combines political and philosophical theory, regulatory analysis, and evidence-based policymaking, with a particular focus on disinformation, governance in complex international environments, and political advocacy efforts.

 

He previously served at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Norway to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, where he covered humanitarian affairs and disarmament. In this role, he engaged with multilateral institutions, international organisations, and civil society actors, developing experience in diplomatic negotiation, stakeholder coordination, and policy positioning.

 

Alongside his academic and professional work, Thomas has represented Norway as a youth delegate to the United Nations General Assembly (89th session), the Internet Governance Forum 2024, and the Council of Europe Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. These roles strengthened his expertise in multilateral processes, digital governance, and international policy dialogue.
