Code, Create, Earn: Roblox’s Economic Impact on Brazil’s Creators

Brazil’s gaming ecosystem has grown rapidly over the past decade. By 2023, the country had more than 1,040 active game studios employing over 13,000 workers, a sevenfold and tenfold increase since 2014.

This momentum isn’t limited to domestic audiences. In 2023, 58% of Brazilian studios reported generating sales overseas, underscoring how Brazil’s creativity is increasingly being “exported” to the world.

Roblox is becoming a meaningful part of Brazil’s gaming ecosystem

Brazil is now one of the world’s biggest gaming markets: ranked the 9th largest globally and home to the 5th largest gamer population.

Roblox has grown alongside this broader ecosystem. Over a five-year period (Q3 2020 to Q2 2025), the report finds that Roblox’s daily active users in Brazil grew at a 28% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), while the number of eligible creators receiving payouts grew at a 92% CAGR, signaling not just more play, but more creation and monetization.

In the first half of 2025 alone, over 1,100 creators in Brazil were eligible to receive payouts, evidence of a growing base of creators building small businesses on-platform.

Quantifying the economic contribution: GDP and jobs supported

The report looks at Roblox’s economic contribution via the Developer Exchange Program (DevEx), which allows eligible creators to exchange earned Robux for real money.

Using Roblox creator payment data and an input-output (IO) approach, Access Partnership estimates that over a five-year period (Q3 2020 to Q2 2025), Roblox contributed USD 34.1 million (BRL 180.9 million) to Brazil’s GDP.

This activity supported an estimated 680 jobs within the past year (Q3 2024 to Q2 2025), with job impact growing at a 94% CAGR over the last five-year period (Q3 2020 to Q2 2025), and GDP impact growing at a 95% CAGR.
