South Korea is one of the world’s leading gaming markets, supported by world-class digital infrastructure and a highly skilled, tech-savvy population. Roblox, as a creator-driven platform, is contributing to this ecosystem by enabling creators to design, develop, and monetize interactive experiences.
Through Roblox’s Developer Exchange Program (which lets creators cash out what they earn from their experiences), South Korean creators are turning game development into viable small businesses – and contributing to national output.[1] Between 2019 and 2024, actual payouts from Roblox’s Developer Exchange Program contributed an estimated USD 20.8 million (KRW 27.2 billion) to South Korea’s gross domestic product (GDP). This economic activity is estimated to have supported 120 jobs in 2024. Over the five-year period, this translates to compound annual growth rates (CAGR) of 422% for GDP and 427% for job impact, underscoring Roblox’s rapidly growing impact on the local economy.
Creators are also exporting South Korean creativity to global audiences. Roblox provides South Korean creators with access to 151.5 million daily active users (DAUs) globally.[2] According to an Access Partnership 2025 survey, 54% of players engaging with South Korea-made Roblox experiences are located overseas, and 53% of creator earnings originate from outside South Korea. The top export markets include Brazil, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Beyond these direct economic impacts, Roblox is helping build skills and support careers in the gaming ecosystem. The platform lowers barriers to entry for creation by giving young creators access to easy-to-use tools and a large library of resources. Access Partnership survey revealed that Roblox creators in South Korea are gaining skills in game design (39% of the sample), problem-solving (32%), and UI/UX (31%) by developing on Roblox.
This development activity has also translated into real professional pathways. 84% of creators have used their Roblox portfolio to showcase their skills to potential employers or clients. Among those currently working in game studios, 70% reported that their studio’s success on Roblox has supported hiring efforts, and 56% were recruited because of their prior Roblox experience.
